Honesdale High School Design Build

Keystone Sports Construction recently completed a design-build project at the Daniel J. O’Neill Sports Complex, the primary home field for many of the Honesdale Hornets’ athletic programs. Located in the Wayne Highlands School District in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, Honesdale High School serves a student body of 9th to 12th graders. The stadium rebuild project involved several phases, beginning with the installation of a drainage system for storm management. Next a newly constructed stone sub-base was laser-graded before the installation of synthetic turf. Keystone installed Astroturf’s top-tier synthetic turf system, Astroturf 3D3 Blend, ensuring a high-quality playing surface for their student athletes.

Additionally, newly paved asphalt walkways were installed around the complex, connecting the new turf fields with the existing bleachers and field houses, and the athletic complex received new perimeter fencing around the playing areas. Notable additions to the baseball and softball fields included brand-new backstops, dugouts, a batting tunnel, and new electronic score boards. The project also included the installation of a new electronic digital scoreboard for the multi-surface stadium field along with removable goal posts for football games. Design elements incorporated into the project include a custom four-color midfield logo, alternating green yard line panels, and sport lines for football, soccer, field hockey, baseball and softball.
