University of Richmond
Keystone Sports Construction recently completed the reconstruction of the turf field at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. The University of Richmond is a Division I NCAA athletics program with a history dating back to the 1800s. The project was initiated with the removal and disposal of existing turf, along with reclaiming and recycling the existing infill. The new field was then moved 20 feet from its original position. A new drainage system was installed for the field’s new location, and the stone base was laser graded. After installing a Brock shock-pad absorber underlayment system, Keystone then installed Shaw Sports Turf’s Momentum Pro slit film turf system for the field. Design elements from the project include a midfield logo, a walkway turf logo, and sports lines for men’s and women’s lacrosse. Additionally, a retaining wall, chain-link fencing, and backstopper fencing were installed, and the 20-foot area where the field originally stood was used for a spectator area.
