Project Summary
Keystone Sports Construction’s turf replacement project for The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, includes two multisport fields with SpikeZone Pro synthetic turf and recovered infill.
The Client
The Shipley School was founded in 1894 by sisters Hannah, Elizabeth, and Katharine Shipley to prepare students for Bryn Mawr College. The school has since developed into a coeducational day school serving students from prekindergarten through twelfth grade.
The Challenge
The project calls for replacing the existing synthetic turf while recovering infill for reuse and accommodating several sports within the playing area. Inspection of the existing anchoring components is also part of the replacement scope.
Construction Process
The project was initiated with the removal and disposal of existing turf, along with reclaiming and recycling the existing infill. Keystone then installed the SpikeZone Pro synthetic turf system with thatch, reused the recovered infill, and supplied supplemental rubber infill.

Can existing infill be reused when turf is replaced? Infill recovery can be part of a turf replacement project. The Shipley scope calls for extracting and bagging the existing infill for reuse, with supplemental rubber infill. The appropriate approach depends on the existing materials and replacement scope.
