Project Summary
Keystone Sports Construction recently completed renovations to the track and turf field of the stadium field and the two auxiliary fields at Owen J Roberts High School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, using GAME ON synthetic turf systems from Shaw Sports Turf on the stadium field.
The Client
Named after the former Supreme Court Justice, Owen J. Roberts boasts a rich history in academics and athletics, with commendable accomplishments in both football and baseball.
The Challenge
Owen J. Roberts needed to replace three turf fields and a running track within a two-month time frame before the fall sports seasons, which Keystone delivered.
Construction Process
The project began with removing and disposing of the existing turf from all three fields, along with reclaiming and recycling the existing infill. The running track surface was also milled and disposed of. Afterward, Brock shock padding was installed for the fields. This project utilized Shaw Sports Turf Game On technology to design and install Legion Pro synthetic turf on the stadium field. The remaining two auxiliary turf fields were replaced with Momentum Pro synthetic turf. A sealed base mat synthetic running track was then installed at the stadium. Additionally, the project called for the installation of Brockfill infill.

What is GAME ON? GAME ON is a turf system from Shaw Sports Turf that uses tufted-in technology to design turf elements, tufting logos and lines into the turf and removing the need for inlaid turf seams. This improves field quality and safety while also streamlining the installation process.
What are signs that my turf field needs to be replaced? Signs include splitting at the ends of turf fibers, shedding of turf fibers, seam separation, loose field inlays that require frequent repair to prevent injury risk, lines and inlays that appear more worn than the rest of the field, and a firmer feeling underfoot.
