Mifflin County School District Design Build

Keystone Sports Construction recently completed a design-build project at the Mifflin County High School athletics stadium, auxiliary field, baseball field, softball field, and track for the Mifflin County School District in Lewistown, PA. Mifflin County School District fosters student growth through small class sizes, strong community support, and its athletic programs. The design-build project consisted of several phases, starting with demolition of the existing sites, the removal of existing turf infields for the baseball and softball fields, and the excavation of the grass field for the stadium. Asphalt was also removed from the existing track and parking lot areas.

After the removal of the existing turf for the baseball and softball fields, a stormwater drainage system was installed for both fields. After grading the stone base, Keystone then installed a dual fiber sports turf system for both infields with raised mounds. Design elements for both fields include a sponsorship logo behind the home plate. Paved walkways were installed connecting the plaza and fields.

Keystone also installed a stormwater drainage system and a stone base system for the turf field stadium after excavating the grass field and removing the existing track. Afterwards, a dual-fiber sports turf system was installed for the field. Design elements for this stadium field include a midfield logo, alternating green yard lines, colored endzones with lettering, and inlaid sports lines for football, soccer, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, and field hockey. Additionally, Keystone installed bleachers along the endzone, home side, and visitors’ side, along with ball barrier netting. The visitors’ side also features a press box with a media station. Additionally, Musco sports lighting and a video scoreboard were installed, along with a new parking lot and chain link fence.

A new storm drainage system and stone base were also installed at the new auxiliary field and track. Keystone then installed a dual-fiber sports turf system. A high jump, long jump, pole vault, and throwing events area were also constructed. Track surfacing was then installed on the track and track event areas. Design elements for the auxiliary field include a midfield logo, alternating green yard lines, colored endzones, and inlaid sports lines for football, soccer, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, and field hockey. Benches and ball barrier netting were then installed. Additionally, Musco sports lighting and a digital scoreboard were installed, along with a new parking lot and chain link fence.
